2023 Kim Lab Summer Speaker Series!

The major purpose of the speaker series is to highlight research conducted by emerging scholars (e.g. students, trainees, junior faculty) in our discipline working on burgeoning topics in human biology and biocultural anthropology through the lens of health equity and social justice. This series is also geared towards students of biological anthropology in order to demystify the research process, doctoral studies, and careers in human biology/academia.

Presenters will discuss their work for approximately 30 minutes and the remaining 30-45 minutes will be a Q&A about the research and training/career development – so we encourage students and trainees to attend! We will discuss questions such as: What made you decide to pursue an academic career? How do you apply to graduate school? How do you balance family obligations with higher education? What barriers and opportunities do you face as minorities in the academy? How do you make your work relevant to larger social justice issues?
